Celebrating the versatility of bread, it features bread-making recipes as well as those that use bread in sometimes surprising, but always-delicious ways.
The cookbook includes chapters on Breads and Basics; More than Toast and O.J.; Nibbles, Spreads and other Openers; Soups, Soupa, Zuppa; Salads, Centerpieces and Sides; Sandwiches and Picnics; Not Just Meat and Potatoes; and Sweet Things.
The Author
Linda Haynes is the co-founder and co-owner of ACE Bakery. She and her husband Martin Connell developed an interest in baking bread in 1985. In their travels to France, they observed village bakers in their rituals, then studied the operation of artisan bakeries in New York and California and opened ACE Bakery in 1993.
Community involvement is an essential part of ACE’s philosophy. ACE donates a percentage of its pretax profits to food and nutrition programs that assist low-income families, financing culinary scholarships, and supporting organic farming initiatives. All royalties from the sale of The ACE Bakery Cookbook are donated to support these efforts.
The ACE Bakery Cookbook is available at the ACE Café at 1 Hafis Road, Toronto, Chapters/Indigo, The Cookbook Store (1-800-268-6018) and independent bookstores across Canada, at Loblaws and other select grocery retailers and online at chapters.indigo.ca and amazon.ca.
