ACE BAKERY EXPANDS HOME-BAKED BREADS ACROSS QUEBEC
ACE BAKERY EXPANDS HOME-BAKED BREADS ACROSS QUEBEC

April 18, 2006.

Costco shoppers in Quebec are toasting ACE Bakery, celebrating the launch of its new Bake Your Own White Demi-Baguette, now available province-wide. This is a new addition to ACE's Bake Your Own variety breads, which are available as part of a traveling road show in select Montreal- and Toronto-area Costco stores.

"We introduced our Bake Your Own program with the road show at Costco, which rotates the location of the ACE Bakery kiosk every two weeks to various store locations in the Montreal and GTA areas. The response has been very positive in Montreal, particularly for the White Demi-Baguette," explains Linda Haynes, co-founder of ACE Bakery. As a result, ACE introduced a new 12-pack, now available across Quebec's Costco stores.

"The Quebec market is ideal for the ACE Bakery baguette, where European traditions are a strong part of the culture," notes Linda. "The traditional baguette is our most popular bread and the demi size is just perfect for sandwiches or for slicing up with a meal," she adds.

The breads are partially baked, then flash frozen to naturally preserve their quality and freshness. Consumers then finish the baking process in the convenience of their home, any time they want. Baking time is 10 to 12 minutes with an additional rest period to allow for the best flavour and texture. The Bake Your Own White Demi-Baguette is available province-wide in the freezer section and is $13.99 for the 12-pack, which contains 4 packages of 3 in re-sealable freezer bags. The Bake Your Own variety breads - Multigrain, Raisin Walnut and Olive - continue to be available at the ACE Bakery road show kiosk in select Montreal- and Toronto-area Costco locations.

"With the ACE Bakery Bake Your Own White Demi-Baguette, consumers can now have fresh, hot bread, anytime, anywhere," says Ms. Haynes. "Whether you're at home, at the cottage, or serving in your restaurant, there's nothing better than the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven. The Bake Your Own breads are so versatile for rounding out your dinner, making appetizers or sandwiches, or when last minute guests arrive. You can just pop them in the oven and you're ready to go in minutes," adds Linda.

One of North America's leading artisan bakeries, ACE Bakery's famous baguettes and artisan breads are available at hundreds of restaurants, hotels, caterers, grocery, and gourmet food shops across Canada, New York State, the Midwest U.S.A, and as far away as the Bahamas. ACE Bakery opened in 1993 as an artisan bakery creating hand-made, European-style rustic breads. The gentle shaping of each loaf, long fermentation periods, and a stone deck oven all work to create exceptionally flavourful products with a light, airy texture and crisp, golden crust. In keeping with ACE's high quality standards, the new breads contain no added preservatives and are made using only the finest ingredients.

Community involvement is an essential part of ACE's philosophy. The company donates a percentage of its net profits to charitable organizations in the principal centres where ACE breads are sold. ACE's focus is on food and nutrition programs that assist low-income members of the community, financing culinary scholarships, and supporting organic farming initiatives.
