The Nicastro brothers opened their first store in 1972 in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy on Gladstone. Twenty-two years later, they opened La Bottega in the Byward Market. Now in it's fifth generation of family ownership, the store is a local favourite and caters to gourmets from all over the city of Ottawa and beyond. Chefs from the city's finest restaurants and hotels can always be found shopping at La Bottega.

La Bottega is Italian for shop or boutique. The Nicastro's mission is simple: to offer the finest Italian food in the world at reasonable prices, with excellent service to the people of Ottawa.

A vast selection of Italian and other gourmet foods are offered, including fresh pasta and sauces that are prepared daily. La Bottega sells over a ton of cheese a week, so you can be sure to find your favorite cheese, and anything else in between, from the extraordinary select one of 200+ varieties. Authentic Italian deli meats, including Italian dry sausages, Prosciutto, Salami, Sopressa and more, are part of the mouth watering specialties available. There is no finer complement to the assortment of delicious products than the daily selection of artisan breads from ACE Bakery.

La Bottega also offers catering services, and a monthly Italian cooking class. And of course, a must is lunch at the counter where you can get a delicious range of sandwiches, pizza or pasta dishes.
