ACE BAKERY TO TEST FRESH CONCEPT WITH COSTCO
ACE BAKERY TO TEST FRESH CONCEPT WITH COSTCO

February 14, 2006.

ACE Bakery is testing a fresh bread concept with Costco beginning today. Located in test stores in Downsview and Ajax, shoppers will be able to purchase both their favourite ACE breads and some new varieties developed just for the Costco test.

"We are introducing a few new varieties of artisan breads to the consumers at Costco, while also providing some of our favourites," explains Linda Haynes, co-founder of ACE Bakery. "I think consumers will be very excited with the new breads and the new formats," said Ms. Haynes. "We recently introduced an Olive Fougasse across Canada. It has been extremely popular, so we developed a new Kalamata Olive Twist, which is great for snacking or slicing up for sandwiches. We have also added a new Herbes de Provence Focaccia that is similar to our Rosemary Focaccia, and is delicious as a grilled vegetable sandwich," Linda continues.

"Two of our most popular sweet breads are Cranberry Focaccia and Fig & Almond. We are introducing a new format, called 'mini pull-aparts', so you can now enjoy them as mini rolls or as a snack," Linda adds.

The Costco stores in Downsview and Ajax will receive fresh bread deliveries daily and there will be ACE staff on hand to answer any questions and to slice your bread for you. You will be able to buy two baguettes for $2.49, available in Country and Calabrese, or, you may purchase two of any of the ovals: White, Rustic Rye, or Multigrain for $3.99. Two packages of 6 rolls, White or Multigrain, may also be purchased for $3.99, or you can mix and match with the ovals. Herbs de Provence, Cheese Twist, Kalamata Olive Twist, Cranberry Pull-Aparts and Fig & Almond Pull-Aparts are sold individually for $5.99.

One of North America's leading artisan bakeries, ACE Bakery's famous baguettes and artisan breads are available at hundreds of restaurants, hotels, caterers, grocery, and gourmet food shops across Canada, New York State, the Midwest U.S.A, and as far away as the Bahamas. ACE Bakery opened in 1993 as an artisan bakery creating hand-made, European-style rustic breads. The gentle shaping of each loaf, long fermentation periods, and a stone deck oven all work to create exceptionally flavourful products with a light, airy texture and crisp, golden crust. In keeping with ACE's high quality standards, the new breads contain no added preservatives and are made using only the finest ingredients.

Community involvement is an essential part of ACE's philosophy. The company donates a percentage of its pre-tax profits to charitable organizations in the principal centres where ACE breads are sold. ACE's focus is on food and nutrition programs that assist low-income members of the community, financing culinary scholarships, and supporting organic farming initiatives.
