ACE Bakery made a commitment to donate 25 cents from the sale of each Country Wheat Baguette during the month of February to Out-of-the-Cold programs across Ontario. As a result, ACE has directed $19,865 to Out-of-the-Cold programs in Hamilton, London, Ottawa, St. Catharines, Sudbury and Toronto. ACE developed the Country Wheat baguette in response to numerous consumer requests for a heartier baguette containing whole wheat, and launched it in retail outlets across Ontario in February. ACE Bakery opened in 1993 as an artisan bakery creating European-style, rustic breads. The gentle shaping of each loaf, long fermentation periods and a stone deck oven all work to create exceptionally flavourful products with a chewy, moist texture and crisp crust. The breads contain no preservatives and are made with only the finest ingredients.
ACE Bakery sells bread to hundreds of Ontario's finest restaurants, hotels, caterers and gourmet food shops as well as grocery outlets in Ontario, Quebec, parts of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, and Ohio. In 2003, ACE Bakery proudly celebrated ten years of baking superior artisan breads. ACE donates ten percent of its pre-tax profits to local charitable organizations in centres where ACE breads are sold, with a focus on food and nutrition programs to assist low-income members of the community, financing culinary scholarships, and supporting organic farming initiatives.
