In a move that will broaden the bakery's offering of artisan breads to consumers, ACE Bakery announced the Ontario-wide introduction of its Country Wheat Baguette. The Country Wheat Baguette, made with 30% whole-wheat flour, is a rustic and wheatier alternative to the bakery's much-loved traditional baguette. "Our customers are a constant source of information, inspiration and new product ideas. So when we hear the same request over and again, we listen," said co-founder and co-owner Linda Haynes.

Increasingly, as Canadian consumers strive to attain a healthy lifestyle on a daily basis, ACE has seen the demand for whole-wheat products grow. The Country Wheat Baguette is made in the same time-honoured artisan traditions as all ACE breads and, like the traditional white baguette, the Country Wheat Baguette is made in the same time-honoured artisan traditions as all ACE breads and, like the traditional white baguette, the Country Wheat Baguette contains no preservatives and is made with all natural ingredients with the added goodness of whole wheat.

The Country Wheat baguette will sell for $2.45 and will be available at select grocers across Ontario. In keeping with its ongoing efforts to support the community, ACE Bakery will donate 25 cents from the sale of each Country Wheat Baguette during the month of February to Out of the Cold programs across Ontario.

ACE Bakery opened in 1993 as an artisan bakery creating hand-made European style, rustic breads. The gentle shaping of each loaf, long fermentation periods and a stone deck oven all work to create exceptionally flavourful products with a chewy, moist texture and crisp crust. The breads contain no preservatives and are made with the finest ingredients.

ACE Bakery sells bread to hundreds of Ontario's finest restaurants, hotels, caterers and gourmet food shops as well as grocery outlets in Ontario, Quebec, upstate New York and Michigan. In 2003, ACE Bakery proudly celebrated ten years of baking superior artisan breads. ACE donates ten percent of its pre-tax profits to local charitable organizations in centres where ACE breads are sold, with a focus on food and nutrition programs to assist low-income members of the community, financing culinary scholarships, and supporting organic farming initiatives.
